Burnt Toast Tea for Stomach Aches
One of the oldest and oddest home remedies for stomach aches that many people swear by is burnt toast tea. Though brunt toast tea is not an herbal tea, the bread mixed with warm water can calm an upset stomach. Put a slice of bread in the toaster and burn it until it is black on both sides. Warm up a cup of water in a mug. Scratch off the burnt part of the toast into the warm water and drink it while it is hot. Another variation of burnt toast tea is putting the burnt toast in a bowel and pouring a cup of boiling water over it. Let it soak for a minute. Mash the bread a bit with a spoon and then pour the liquid into a mug and drink the liquid while it is hot.
Peppermint Stomach Ache Tea
Peppermint is widely known for helping with digestion. The peppermint plant originated in North American and contains no caffeine. Peppermint leaves excrete oil that initiate digestion and that is why it is commonly eaten at the end of a meal. The peppermint leaf oils work as an antispasmodic to smooth the muscles in the digestive tract. This can stop stomach spasms and cramping in the gastrointestinal tract. Other uses for peppermint tea are, heartburn, relieve bloating and gas, stomach ache and nausea. Peppermint tea does not contain caffeine and is a good option before bedtime.
Chamomile Tea for Stomach Aches
Chamomile tea is one of the most popular teas worldwide. The chamomile plant is native to Western Europe and North Africa, but one of the first mentions of chamomile was in Ancient Egypt as it was used in embalming and curing sickness. Chamomile works much the same as peppermint tea in calming the stomach and helping with gas, diarrhea, and stomach spasms. Chamomile is also mildly sedative and aids in sleep. Chamomile is available as a loose leaf tea and also as part of many tea bags.
